script detailsGENRE: Zombie Horror | Straight Up Drama
PROTECTION: WGA; West registered DRAFTS: Seven (7) completed drafts FORMAT / LENGTH: Feature length spec screenplay PAGE COUNT: One hundred one (101) NUMBER: This is my 10th feature spec PROBABLE MPA RATING: R SCRIPT CONSULTANT: Jonna Jackson LOGLINE: "Peter returns to his small hometown following the news of his mother's death. Estranged from his three siblings, he has also never met his two young nieces. When a zombie outbreak occurs, he becomes trapped with his family (and all of their strained histories) inside the funeral home where his mother's wake was to take place." MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS: On the turntable for this writing process: the Maurice Jarre soundtrack for the Joseph Ruben film, Dreamscape. CREATIVE SCREENWRITING FEEDBACK: "Your script thrilled us with its compelling characters, creeping atmosphere, slow burn approach and polished storytelling." SCREAMFEST FEEDBACK: "I love the premise. Definitely like all the zombie action, and it comes at the midpoint, after we have had time to get to know Peter and his relationship with his family, which is great. The structure of the script is definitely very well-crafted." HEY, SHANNON!: In what has become a tradition in most of my scripts, I have a character named "Shannon" within the story. In Mom Died, "Shannon" is the funeral director handling Ruth's services. video pitchpress
